During his time at The Central School of Art and Design (now Central St Martin’s), wanting to use all the facilities available to him, Cunningham experimented with etching techniques. These artworks echo the detailed, dynamic quality of his drawings, maintaining their small format and thin lines.

The collection of prints and etching in Cunningham's estate includes some of the artist’s original etching plates and the resulting prints, which occasionally have been impressed after the artist’s death.
